Thank you for your interest in becoming a TEACH South Africa Ambassador. This year there will be two application deadlines - June 30 and September 20, 2011. TEACH South Africa strongly encourages applicants to begin the application processes as early as possible to allow yourslef enough time to complete the online application form.
To apply, applicants need to complete the following six (6) sections of the online application form:
- Personal Information
- Academic Information (Applicants are required to upload their results thus far)
- Leadership and Work Experience Information
- References
- Written Information (letter of intent, and two essays)
- Supplemental Information
Directions to on-line application form:
- Register to gain access to the online application form.
- To ensure secure access to the online application,TEACH South Africa will notify you via email of your log-on information after you have registered.
- All questions in RED must be answered.
- You may enter and leave the online application website as often as you wish. All information entered will be automatically saved when logging off.
- Once you have successfully submitted the application, you will recieve an email letting you know we have recieved the completed application.

Pre-requisites to join Teach South Africa:
South African Citizens:
- Applicants must hold a university degree and must have done Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English or Technology for a minimum of one year during the course of their degree.
- Applicants must have graduated in the last five years or will complete their degree by no later than December this year.
- Please note that TEACH South Africa is NOT accepting applications from Education majors
Non South African Citizens:
- Applicants must hold a university degree and must have done Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Technology for a minimum of one year during the course of their degree.
- Please note that TEACH South Africa is NOT accepting applications from Education majors.
Selection Criteria:
- A record of past achievement: achieving ambitious, measurable results in academics, leadership, or work
- Perseverance in the efface of challenges
- Strong critical thinking skills: making accurate linkages between cause and effect and generating relevant solutions to problem
- The ability to influence and motivate others
- Organizational ability: planning well, meeting deadlines, and working efficiently
- An understanding of our vision and the desire to work relentlessly in pursuit of it
- Respect for students and families in low-income communities
- Evidence that applicants operate with professionalism and integrity
- Pass cognitive assessment that measures basic reading, writing and comprehension skills.
- Pass assessment to measure competencies for content area assigned to teach.

Step 1
- Applicants to complete online application process.
Step 2
- Selected applicants will be invited to attend a day-long interview to be conducted one week in July and one week in October. To ensure that you will be able to attend, we ask that you hold time on your calendar as much as possible within the interview window since you may be assigned to any of these dates.

Additional information:
You must obtain two official transcripts from the university that will award or has awarded your degree, two official copies of your passport and two official copies of your valid work permit (if non-South African Resident)and submit them at the beginning of Selection Day.
TEACH South Africa will only accept South African citizens, legal permanent residents or non-South African residents for admission that have a valid work permit. If you are invited to a final interview, you must present official photocopies of legal documentation that proves you are a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of South Africa- Visas are not acceptable.
TEACH Ambassadors are paid directly by the school districts in which they work in and may receive the same salaries and health benefits as other beginning teachers.
